Dr. Hemant Sharma is a Hip and knee Surgeon, based in Gurgaon. He is currently working as Director
and head of orthopaedics in W Pratiksha hospital from July 2016.
He worked In Fortis hospital as head of unit in sports injury and joint replacement surgery. As a specialist
hip and knee surgeon his practice involves the assessment and management of all aspects of hip and
knee pathology. Dr Sharma provides a comprehensive service from the management of sports and soft
tissue hip and knee injuries through to joint preserving hip surgery (hip arthroscopy & hip impingement
surgery), conservative hip replacement (short stem hip replacement) together with a large volume
practice in primary and revision hip and knee replacement.
His main focus Is on joint preservation surgery for arthritis like arthroscopic cartilage regeneration
procedures and high tibial osteotomy for knee arthritis. He also has keen interest in sport injuries of
knee and shoulder and has vast experience in multi-ligamentous reconstruction of knee .
He has done his basic and higher surgical training from India and United Kingdom. His orthopaedic and
trauma training was in United Kingdom and his hip and knee specialist training has been an
accumulation of fellowships in the UK together with clinical visits throughout Europe. This education
continues with regular attendance in national and international hip and knee meetings. Most recently
this has included delivering presentations in the Canadian orthopaedic association and other
international meetings.
Prior to his surgical qualifications from UK he has also completed his basic and higher training In India.
This has provided him with the knowledge and understanding to become closely involved and
understand problems of his patients. Dr. Sharma has particular area of research interest is the
management of failed and infected joint replacement of hip and knee, hip instability and joint
preserving surgery in hip and knee. He is also certified advanced trauma life support provider.
He Is a keen educator and had a regular teaching commitment, which includes hands on cadaveric
workshops and live surgery demonstration for hip and knee replacement surgery.
